Meet the Makers: Vol. 1 – The Nerds Behind the Forge

Welcome to the first edition of Meet the Makers, where we pull back the curtain (and possibly trigger a trap) to reveal who’s behind Illusory Wall Prints. Spoiler: it's not a goblin guild or cursed AI—it’s just us, Stacy and Jacob, your friendly neighborhood chaos crafters.

Q: So… who are you really?
We’re Stacy and Jacob, a husband-and-wife duo with a shared love for gaming, fantasy, and building weird little things that make people smile (or raise an eyebrow). We run Illusory Wall Prints out of our home alongside our noble companions:

  • Freya – A sentient potato with a badge that says “Printer Inspector #1”. She will absolutely walk right up to the printer mid-print just to assert dominance.

  • Sif – Our neurotic little shadow, who follows us everywhere—including the print room—like she’s on a critical stealth mission.

  • Hela – Sock thief extraordinaire. Refuses to enter the print room, but will proudly parade around with laundry-based trophies.

  • Juno the cat – The only one with real authority around here. Oversees everything from a perch, silently judging.

Q: How did you two meet?
Love blossomed the only way true nerd love can: through voice chat chaos in Team Fortress 2 on Xbox Live. Nothing says "soulmate" like coordinating a payload push while also arguing about snacks.

Q: What made you want to start Illusory Wall Prints?
We were both itching to create something that combined our skills and passions. We started printing things we wanted for ourselves—skulls, planters, familiars, cursed treasures—and it snowballed from there. Apparently, other people also wanted things that looked like they were looted from a boss room. Who knew?

Q: How many printers are we talkin’?
A few. Enough to make the lights flicker and raise Freya’s eyebrows.

Q: Favorite prints so far?
Stacy: I’m obsessed with the intellect devourer. It’s weirdly adorable and somehow more polite than our cat.
Jacob: “Fate of the Fallen,” hands down. It’s a pile of skulls that holds your controller. Metal as hell.

Q: What’s on the workbench right now?
We’re wrapping up a hand-painted Lae’zel from Baldur’s Gate 3—a true Githyanki queen with a scowl sharp enough to cut through steel. She’s looking fierce, and she may or may not be judging us for our paintbrush choices.

Q: Favorite games?
Stacy: Dark Souls 2 & 3, Elden Ring, Power Washing Simulator, and House Flipper (because sometimes the real boss is bad interior design).
Jacob: Gears of War and the Souls series. He plays with the intensity of someone who believes dodge-rolling is a valid real-life skill.

Q: What’s next for Illusory Wall?
We’re working on expanding our line of fantasy terrain, diving into more custom commissions, and cooking up some behind-the-scenes content in our Behind the Builds blog series. You’ll get a peek at our process—from concept to cleanup, and all the “oh no, the printer jammed again” moments in between.

Thanks for reading, and for being a part of our little nerdy realm. Whether you're here for the dice towers, the painted figures, or just to see if the skulls come alive (they don’t… probably), we appreciate you.

Stay tuned for more builds, more blogs, and maybe a few familiars hiding in plain sight.

And remember: sometimes, the wall is just a wall… and sometimes, it’s hiding something awesome. 🧱✨
